Magic day's work for Rafa Cabrera-Bello who cards a 67 and he's on -4, one off the pace. Zach Johnson still cruising on -5.
Scotland's Lloyd Saltman - the man who started with two balls in the hospitality tent off the first - carded a rather stinky 79 with six pars and three pars on the back nine.
England's David Lynn will have had better days. Six single bogeys, two double bogeys, one birdie. He's on +9 after 16.
Any thoughts on who's the leading Scot?
Remember a bloke called Sandy? Sandy Lyle. 1985 Open champion. He's started with four pars.
OLDIE UPDATE: Tom Watson (+2) Fred Couples and Nick Faldo (both +5)
After a double bogey at 12th, Rory hits back with a birdie to get on to +4.
Incredible opening eight holes for Steven Tiley. Four birdies and a bogey. He's back on to -3.
Angel Cabrera. Argentina's golfing machine. The 43-year-old started the day with a bogey and he's just holed his fourth birdie at 11. He's three under and flying.
Dustin Johnson would have been in great spirits at the turn. Four pars and three bogeys later and he's on -1.
Hold the back pages of gloomy Dustin. ...
Not a good day to be a US Open champ. Justin Rose is not firing today and a double bogey on 16 gets him to +5. Not even a sniff of a birdie on the card.
And not so good for defending Open champ either. Ernie Els had been bumping along nicely but he's in need of a spade and bucket with a shocking lie in the bunker at 16.
Dustin Johnson comes through with a few bumps and bruises but that eagle saves his card and he ends up with a 68 and -3 and only three off the pace. A good day to be called Johnson. Any other useful Johnsons out there I've missed?
GOLDEN OLDIES strolling down the 18th and all three get a great reception. Couples, Faldo and Watson. Tremendous view.
OOOFFFF It aint Justin Rose's day. 16 holes, no red. An eagle putt kisses the inside of the cup but stays out. Tough. Back to +4.
Oh lordy. Nick Faldo winds the clock back with a corking approach shot that bounces along like a lame rat and finishes three feet off the hole. Stunning.
TIGER ALERT. He's 50 minutes from firing off and he's just rocked up at the practice tees.
FALDO....aged 57....Sir Nick ends with a sweet par on his birthday. Couples ends on +5 and Watson on +4. Quite a lively day for all three. Wonder if they'll kick back in the clubhouse and reminisce about the old days. Or clothes ripped off and all three jumping into the hot tub with a bottle of bubbly.
Well well well....the last 28 minutes couldn't have been any more lively for Ernie Els. Here's the story. Triple bogey on the par three 16th. Birdie on 17 and now he's just clonked the ball into the gallery. Watch your head folks.
Fancy a view of the pin positions? Graeme McDowell reveals all from his twitter account...coming right up.
Magical trio stroll onto the firs tee. Lee Westwood, Charl Schwartzel and Sergio Garcia. That could be interesting.
Sergio gets a great cheer. Hurry up boy - Tiger's only half an hour behind you.
