Nadal v Djokovic - ATP World Tour Finals
Live commentary from the last match of the ATP World Tour Finals in London featuring Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
Nadal collects his shield then addresses the crowd: "Thank you. I want to congratulate a super player like Novak. Thank you to all the people who support me day by day for the last twenty-seven year - it would be impossible to be here without them. This has been the most emotional season of my career - probably one of the best. Thank you so much and see you next year."
Up next is Novak Djokovic, who collects his trophy - huge in comparison to Nadal's - and we even have some fireworks as he lifts it. "I would like to congratulate Rafa for an incredible season and what you have done is amazing - ending the year as world number one. This is a great place to end the year and thank you for coming out and for your support. I want to finish by thanking my team - my coaches and professional team who are always there for me. The big success comes from these guys at the back of the court what they give and do for us."
Novak Djokovic proved simply too strong for world number one
Rafa Nadal, defeating his opponent 6-3, 6-4.
In truth, impressive though he was, the Australian Open Champion didn’t
need to be at his best as Nadal seemed strangely out of sorts, throwing in many
unforced errors and too few winners.
It was the Serb who started quickest, moving into a 3-0 lead
in a see-saw first set that included Nadal levelling at 3-3 before he took the
third batch of three games to win it 6-3.
An early break in the second set for Djokovic put the
Wimbledon finalist in control and he never looked troubled on his serve after
that, running out a comfortable 6-3, 6-4 winner.
