Prior chips away but it's plugged and they have to run 3
Swann then slog sweeps for 4. Bit of a contrast to day 3
And then nails one over mid-on for six. He's got 20 in 8 balls
Short arm jab from Swann for a single
Morning session summary
The start of the final day of the Ashes summer was delayed by half an hour due to the amount of rain that had fell with England needing 45 to avoid to the follow-on. Chris Woakes was dismissed for 25 nicking to Clarke in the slips. Once England had safely negotiated themselves past the follow-on, the runs flowed with Ian Bell and Matt Prior were happy to swing their bats a bit. Ian Bell walked off after nicking down the leg side into Haddin's gloves. Broad and Prior continued to please the Oval crowd with a series of aggressive and expansive shots. 10 minutes before lunch Mitchell Starc took out Broad's middle stump with the first ball of his new spell.
Swann reached 20 in just 8 balls and England go to lunch 350/7
Welcome back for the penultimate session of the series. England resume 350/7
Prior starts the afternoon session off with a boundary
Faulkner round the wicket to Swann.
Faulkner was very impressive with the white ball in the Champions Trophy - he's not been explosive in this innings but he's clearly got potential and gets the ball to do a bit
Prior cuts fine for 4 to take him on to 43
There's a casualty here at the Oval - the giant investec zebra has had to go off to Zebra hospital to be fixed
Beautiful shot from Prior - absolutely nails an on drive straight down the ground
Where has this Prior been all series?
Fantastic diving catch from Starc who made good ground to get round to fine mid-on to take the catch
Anderson gets off the mark with a straight drive for 4. The Burnley Lara
Haddin's dropped Anderson and misses the chance to equal Rod Marsh's record
Wild swing and a miss from Jimmy.
Haddin now equalling Rod Marsh's record
A wild swing from Jimmy and he edges behind.
Kerrigan comes out to a massive round of applause
Loud applause as Kerrigan sees off his first ball in Test cricket
Big appeal for caught behind as Swann has a swing at it but Swann's totally missed it
Swann gets a thick inside edge for four down to fine leg
And follows it up with a superbly timed hook for 4 through square leg to take him on to 34
Kerrigan gets his Test batting off to a start with a smear through the leg side for a single
This is England's highest innings score of the series. Which isn't actually all that impressive really is it?
Maiden from Siddle at the Pavilion End
Faulkner picks up his 4th wicket of the day angles one in to Swann and takes his middle stump
The Aussies are opening with Warner and Watson. Don't know where Rogers is
It looks like Australia are going to try and set up a game here.
I don't imagine England will go for them though
APPEAL for caught behind. Prior thinks Warner has nicked it but it's turned down and they don't review
Well for a team that has decided to try and set something up they aren't exactly blasting it. A sedate two runs an over so far
Australia have trickled on to 5 after 4 overs.
Broad at mid-off drops a dolly. It's Watson he's dropped.
