52 mins GREAT CHANCE! Sterling finds Henderson wide on the right. Henderson's cut back comes to Sterling who misses his kick before the ball is deflected wide by Behrami.
54 mins That's the Rodriguez we remember from the World Cup. The Swiss left-back advances and curls a delicious cross into England's box. No one attacked it though and England clear the danger.

England's frontmen combine to fine effect on the counter attack. Rooney picks it up and drives forward. It's three against three. Rooney passes left to the onrushing Sterling whose cross is buried by Welbeck at the far post a la Daniel Sturridge v Italy in the World Cup. Great goal.

90+2 mins The Swiss haven't given up yet. Inler steals possession and sets up a move down the left. Jagielka clears. Now Rodriguez has a strike from distance. It takes a deflection but Joe Hart saves.

It's another wonderful counter-attack from England. Sterling finds space again but this time decides against dribbling forward. His sweet pass finds Rickie Lambert who makes a smart lay-off to Danny Welbeck who buries his shot past Sommer. 2-0. Three points.

Roy Hodgson's bold selection was rewarded with three points from what will be England's toughest test in Group E. Danny Welbeck rounded off two sublime counter-attacks to give the Three Lions a much-needed confidence-boosting win. Raheem Sterling had a fine game while Joe Hart made a crucial first half save to ensure parity at half-time. Leighton Baines, Jordan Henderson and Wayne Rooney were industrious too.
