45 runs added in the hour we have been playing
A maiden from Woakes. No sign of Swann or Kerrigan yet. This isn't their day really - this is one for the seamers
Appeal from Prior - he thinks Haddin has hit it behind. And they've decided to review. Only Prior appealed. How weird
What a weird review - he was nowhere near it. Hit the thigh pad on the way through but nowhere near the bat
Brad Haddin has lost his mojo. Can't time a thing now
A bit of suicidal running nearly sees the end of Smith. Trott scoops up and shies at the stumps but it misses.
Four from Smith moves him to a career best of 93*
It's time for spin now we've had an over of Trotty
What a way to bring up your maiden Test century. Smashed Trott for six over long on
Oh blimey - that's a freebie wicket. Haddin has played on to his stumps for 30.
That's Trott's 5th Test wicket.
10 minutes till tea and it's been an odd session.
Nearly an all run four but they bottle it as Joe Root does some athletic fielding on the boundary
Faulkner averages 30 with the bat in first-class cricket. He must be pretty decent because he's above Starc who we've seen can bat properly
Anderson to Faulkner - which will test the debutant
Anderson is getting lovely late movement unlike yesterday where the ball was doing precisely nowt
Afternoon session summary
After a lengthy delay for rain play finally got underway at 2.30pm. James Anderson very quickly removed the nightwatchman Peter Siddle with an inswinger that clipped off stump. The new batsman Brad Haddin began his innings aggressively particularly targetting Chris Woakes.
Steve Smith brought up his maiden Test century with a six off Jonathan Trott over long off then 2 balls later Brad Haddin dragged a delivery from Trott on to his stumps, his 5th Test wicket. Debutant James Faulkner got his first Test run off Trott. In overcast conditions there was a little more movement than yesterday making scoring more difficult than in the glorious sunshine of day 1. Faulkner struggled particularly against Anderson who was getting late movement away from the bat. Australia go to tea 397/6
I'll be back in 20 minutes to guide you through the evening session which will be a long one
Sixteen runs from that over thanks to some swift pegging it between the sticks
They are getting a move on here - perhaps a declaration coming
There's Woakes's first Test wicket. Caught well by Trott on the boundary.
That brings Starc to the crease. He'll have a thrash - get another 30 or so and then they'll declare I suspect
Lovely shot from Starc for four - he's shown us time and again this series that he's a proper batsman
Starc goes for the big heave and totally misses it
Starc clearly had instructions to go big or go home
It's as bright as it has been all day so no worries about an early finish for bad light
Every fielder is on the boundary.
Harris throws the bat at it and it sails for six into the OCS stand
And Cook puts Trott into that deep midwicket area where Harris has just sent the ball
Harris ducks under a Broad bumper
And another maximum from Harris - all the way straight back over Swann's head straight towards the press box. BANG
