There's a woman who comes to the Oval for County matches who thinks that one of the pigeons here is Jesus
OH MY WORD - A BOUNDARY
An actual boundary. Straight down the ground by Pietersen
Ironic cheers round the ground for the first boundary in 11 overs
That's a maiden from Lyon
This might be sensible tactics from England but the crowd are really not impressed with proceedings
New ball is available at the end of this over. They'll probably take it - looks like the seamers are stretching
And the new ball brings a wicket.
Dar gives Trott out LBW - which he is reviewing
It looks a bit high on first replay - it might be umpire's call
The new ball is providing some swing for Mitchell Starc.
Clarke and KP are having a good old go at each other. Which is fun
FOUR by Bell takes the score to 180
Afternoon session summary
The extended afternoon session was the very epitome of attritional cricket with just 84 runs coming from it.
Joe Root was dismissed for 68 not long after the resumpton chipping one up to Shane Watson fielding on the 45. The 50 partnership between Trott and Pietersen was brought up by a clip by Pietersen. The new ball was taken on the stroke of 4pm and immediately brought the wicket of Trott LBW to Starc. The new man and the man in form Ian Bell safely guided his way to the break .
England 181/3 at Tea
We are back from tea and Clarke is still going at KP - I am not sure of the wisdom of that. KP gets motivated by that
Not a great over from Starc. Slinging it down the leg side
The floodlights are on. I've had to put my cardi on. I think there might be a storm on the way
FOUR - a lovely pull by KP behind square to the boundary. Rode the bounce and pulled it round the corner
That's a beauty from Starc - Bell didn't pick it up at all and only managed to get his bat out of the way at the last second
The scoreboard has broken!
It's not been updated since England were 181/3. I think it's had enough and given up the ghost
England bring the 200 up to ironic applause from the crowd. They're a knowledgeable bunch and they don't think they are getting value for money.
The crowd are making their own entertainment. You can understand why they feel they aren't getting value for money
A single brings more ironic cheers
Australia decide to review an LBW shout against KP. Pietersen has got a big stride in and it's hitting the stumps but it's outside the line. So the gamble by Aus doesn't pay off. And they've lost all their reviews
The run rate is 1.80
And there's some spots of rain
light meters are out. I bet they go off soon
