Shane Watson has in this series bowled a maiden every other over he's bowled. So important for his side that economy rate
In the Women's Ashes - Australia are 100/2
Pietersen gets his first boundary off the 11th ball he faced
Clarke will be getting nervous about this partnership - it will be these two who take it away from Australia
Peter Siddle is on from the Lumley end replacing Harris.
Pietersen edges one just between the slips. A couple of his shots have been narrow escapes.
Clarke is doing some head scratching now because this partnership between Bell and KP is looking ominous
Oh there's some classic KP. One step and bang - pulled through backward point.
Some chat about Root and whether it would be best to move him back to 6. I very much doubt England will do that anytime soon but IF they did I don't think they would go back to Compton - it's not their style. They'd move on to Chopra or Robson or perhaps Carberry but that seems unlikely too
Oh - there's a trademark Bell flick off the pads and a fielding cock-up sees an all run four
This is very good by Bell and KP - they are not letting the bowlers settle at all
Bird just got 2 overs in that spell and they've returned to Harris
Afternoon session summary
Resming after lunch on 24/1, Ryan Harris bowled a very testing 5 over spell that saw England lose both Trott and Cook caught behind. Cook going for the drive and got an edge, Trott was caught down the legside.
KP and Ian Bell very quickly put on a 50 partnership, rotating the strike and not letting the bowlers settle. Jackson Bird was brought on but taken off again after 2 overs to return to Ryah Harris who as Australia's best bowler is having to bowl than perhaps his fragile body is used to. England go into tea leading by 87 runs with Pietersen 33* and Bell 37*.
Knitwear action - it's gone chilly and there's some brollies up. Meanwhile Bell has just edged past the gloves of Haddin diving to his left
England moving the lead on towards 100 and anything more than about 140 it's my prediction that Australia won't get
KP hasn't scored a run since tea and he's getting frustrated
KP still hasn't scored a run since tea.
Beautiful from Bell though driving square through the covers for 4. and followed by a dab for his half century
Ian Bell is in the form of his life.
BREAKING - KP has scored a run
Haddin misses a caught behind - it was a tough chance but an inside edge off KP
Siddle has bowled 4 overs since tea for just 2 runs
Watson has gone off the pitch - looked injured to me.
Meanwhile Australia are reviewing for LBW against KP - looks a daft review to me.
That's a desperate review. He's outside the line, there might be an edge. And his stride was over 3m - not really much going for it that review
A dab to 3rd man - that's been the hallmark of Bell this series
KP gets a leading edge to Rogers at short cover and he's out to Lyon again
